Terry Fox Community Message

Hello Clara Hughes Families,


As promised, here are some additional
details about our Terry Fox Run for 2022 on Thursday September 22nd. As
September is Optimism month, this is a great opportunity for our students and
families to make the connection between this incredible Canadian hero and our
character trait of the month.  His cross-Canada marathon, and every annual
Terry Fox Run since then, continue to bring communities together to raise
awareness and funds about cancer and its impact.  The linked document
provides families with info about donations (both online or bringing a toonie
on Thursday); support only if you are able. We have set a fundraising goal and
have a fun activity planned should we reach it.

For our new families, Clara Hughes has had a wonderful tradition of hosting
our run for grades 1-8 around the corner at Farewell Park. This has been on hold
during COVID, but we are excited to bring it back. With the limited space our
school yard offers (especially with 15 portables), this allows us to create a
more enjoyable route, but also highlights the status of this important event
and gives our cross-country team a chance to do some training! We welcome
parents & guardians to join us for this event as well, creating a truly
special activity for all. If you are interested in joining us, please let your
child's teacher know.
